School start time one pager

I chose to read an article by The Atlantic , titled: “The Curse of America’s Illogical School-Day Schedule”. I chose to read this article because it reminded me about what is going on at my school right now. We are revisiting the bell schedule and deciding if it needs to be changed or updated. I figured that reading this article would open my eyes more to why we may or may not need a school schedule change.   The first paragraph of this article talks about how students wake up early every morning to the sounds of their alarms going off. It talks about how the average start for high schools is 7:59, and that teens have to disturb their natural sleep patterns to attend school every day . I can relate to the alarms, because I usually set fifteen of them every day , just to make sure I don’t oversleep.    The article c ontinues to say, that the school schedule is often a huge inconvenience to parents, as school schedules usually end two hours before the Ameri...

Smartphone one-pager

The next paragraph talks about how the “most concerning is their belief that social media actually helps improve their mental health” I found it odd that they referred to that as concerning, especially because in that same paragraph they continue to say that 20% of people felt better about themselves after social media, and only 3% desc...

Lina Madlock profile

Screenshots. Tons of them. But they might not be of what you think. Meet Lina Madlock, a student at Kennedy High School, who claims that almost all the photos on her phone are screenshots. Now, don’t be fooled! When you hear that, you probably think the worst, I know I did. My brain went to photos of all sorts of things: confessions, images or private text messages- but no! The screenshots are usually completely harmless! Just funny memes and photos she gets sent by her friends! That makes me wonder if she is someone that values humor in friends and family, or if she just keeps the photos because she finds them entertaining.
